The original ZXR750, the H1, was brought out to enable Kawasaki to race it in World Superbikes (WSB). The front end was renowned for being one of the best around at the time. With the introduction of the J1 in 1991 saw the inclusion of upside down forks, which improved things further, despite the heavier weight. The engine is a 750cc four stroke, in-line four cylinder, giving plenty of torque as well as power.

My first ZXR was a 1992 J1 in the classic Kwak colour scheme of green, white and blue. Someone had spent a lot of time polishing the frame, but had also dropped it and cracked the top-fairing. I found some green insulating tape to cover up the hole as cheap alternative to a replacement panel!

Mine also had a lovely sounding Micron exhaust can on it, and I added a double-bubble screen to give more wind protection at speed.

Later ZXRs got gradually heavier, and eventually got a new name to match the rest of the line-up - ZX7-R.

I had this ZXR for a year, before my car at the time needed money spending on it and the bike had to go.

However, after being without a bike for a couple of months, I was on the lookout for a replacement.

I found this ZXR with a few problems on eBay and picked it up cheap.

I rode it for about a year with a steadily worsening second gear slip, then found a replacement engine (eBay again) to put in. Unfortunately, this engine had the same problem (chocolate gears?) so I made the decision to break it and sell as parts rather than a non-running bike. You’ve guessed it, eBay again.
