All of my vehicles end up as projects, no matter what the original intention. An overwhelming need to tinker with things means I can always find something to do.
Click the pictures below to see more about each of the vehicles that have passed through my hands in the last ten years...
1962 VW Type 1 (Beetle)
August 1997 -
Bought as an abandoned project and restored to its former glory over the next two years.
1987 Audi 90 2.2E
November 2003 - April 2004
Bought on eBay in a hurry...
1989 VW Golf 1.8GL
April 2004
Intended to replace the 90, but quickly part exchanged for a mk3 GTi.
1994 VW Golf 2.0 GTi 16V
April 2004 - December 2005
Time for a grown-up, sensible car that will last...?
1994 Audi 100 2.6E
September - October 2004
This one moved on again before I’d even sold the car it was intended to replace.
1986 VW Golf 1.8 GTi
October - December 2006
No pretence this time - bought purely as a project to sell on again!
1995 Toyota Celica GT
September 2007 - February 2009
Needed something more practical than a bike, but not too sensible.
1979 VW Type 2 Devon Conversion
April - November 2008
Another air-cooled vdub... the excuse being a way to get away for weekends without having to leave the dog behind.
1998 Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark
July 2009 -
Some say you can’t claim to be a petrol-head until you’ve owned an Alfa...
1985 Honda CB125TD-E
November 2001 - June 2002
Has a lot to answer for - ridden for six months, then I had to do my test and upgrade...
1989 Honda CB-1 400
June 2002 - June 2003
A friend was upgrading at the time I was looking to do the same, so this came my way.
1992 Kawasaki ZXR750J1
June 2003 - June 2004
Time to upgrade again, but had to go after a year to bankroll the GTi money-pit.
1992 Kawasaki ZXR750J1
October 2004 - December 2005
I couldn’t be without a bike for too long, and the ZXR had been so good... I bought another one! But this one had troubles of its own.
1998 Honda CBR900RRW FireBlade
January 2006 - October 2007
After Kawasaki unreliability, back to good old dependable Honda.
2003 Kawasaki ZX-9R F1P
February - June 2009
After a long gap, it was good to be back on two wheels again.
