Unfortunately I got caught out by a patch of diesel on a very wet roundabout and found a solid piece of roadside furniture. Luckily it struck the car square on the B-pillar - certainly the strongest part along its side. Such was the position of the impact that it didn’t even break any glass.
I drove the car to my mum’s garage a mile away; I started a new job 50-miles away the next day and didn’t have much time to worry about it at the time!
