Volkswagen introduced the mk2 Golf to replace the original in 1983. It was bigger, heavier and better built than the mk1. At the top of the range were the 1.8 fuel injected GTi (with 8 or 16 valves) and supercharged G60, with a very limited G60 Rallye model with four-wheel-drive and a wide-body available in left hand drive only. The mk2 was replaced by the bigger still mk3 in 1992.
This Atlas Grey mk2 is a non-injected 1.8 but being a late model GL came with the big bumpers normally associated with the GTi. It also had and the now sought after Pirelli alloy wheels, central locking and a sunroof.
I bought this to move on from the Audi, but no sooner had I bought it than my employers gave me a car allowance and something a bit newer was required.
